STUDIO

archaos is an architecture studio based in Split, founded in 2015, engaged in the design, development, and realization of architecture of different scales, with a particular focus on individual houses and residential architecture.

Our work is based on the belief that architecture is not a neutral discipline, but an act that leaves a lasting trace in space, time, and in the lives of the people who use it. We do not see architecture merely as a formal or aesthetic object, but as a long-term spatial framework for everyday life.

A strong interest in diverse environments leads us to approach every project as a unique task, seeking a specific and contextual response to the conditions of the place, the program, and the real needs of its users.

APPROACH

We believe that architecture always enters into dialogue with the place in which it is created — it can be harmonious, contrasting, or autonomous, but it is always shaped by its context.

Each location carries its own characteristics, limitations, and potentials, and these elements become the starting point for the development of an architectural solution.

The beginning of every project is a careful reading of the site — its topography, climate, views, materials, history, and local way of life. We shape architecture as a natural continuation of its surroundings, seeking a balance between function, space, and the identity of the place.

We do not see spatial constraints as obstacles, but as active tools for design. Through analysis, alternative solutions, and continuous dialogue with clients, we develop projects that integrate function, space, structure, and atmosphere.

We are not interested in trends or ready-made solutions, but in architecture that is clear, rational, and sustainable in the long term — architecture that gains value over time.

FIELD OF WORK

Most of our projects focus on the design of residential houses in demanding contexts, where architecture must be precise, thoughtful, and clearly defined.

These are long-term and intimate processes in which dialogue with clients is as important as the architectural idea itself. We work with clients who wish to understand the space they are building and actively participate in its creation.

We provide continuous support throughout the entire process — from initial site analysis and concept development, through 3D models, visualizations, and technical design, to project coordination, construction consulting, and architectural supervision during the building process.

MATERIALITY AND EXPRESSION

We devote particular attention to materiality. Natural materials such as stone, concrete, and wood are used honestly, allowing them to age naturally over time and become part of the identity of the place.

Through the combination of traditional building principles and contemporary expression, we seek an architecture that appears calm, stable, and enduring — often with a strong and lasting presence, yet always in dialogue with its context.

INTEGRATED WORKING METHOD

The studio operates through collaboration between architects and a structural engineer, allowing design and technical development to remain integrated within a single team.

This approach enables a controlled and comprehensive process — from site analysis and concept development, through architectural design, structural calculations, and cost estimation, to technical consulting, project management, and professional supervision during construction.

We believe that the true value of architecture is confirmed only in its realization.

REALIZATIONS AND RECOGNITION

House Rogač, the studio’s most notable realization to date, has been published on international platforms such as ArchDaily and Designboom, received the BIG SEE Architecture Award, and was featured in the books Stone Houses and Häuser.

The project was also included in the longlist of the Archello Awards and shortlisted for the 23rd Salon arhitekture Novi Sad.
