Rogač House is located in the town of Vis. It was built on a steep plot on the northern slope above the Vis harbour and the historic town centre. The site is surrounded by numerous century-old carob trees, and the house is oriented towards the magnificent view of the idyllic bay and the sea.

The archetypal monolithic volume of the house, executed in roughly hewn stone, rises from the natural topography of the slope and dense vegetation. Its form recalls a defensive Vis tower located nearby.

The arrangement of openings on the stone facade results from a careful gradation of views and levels of privacy for the interior spaces, as well as the external terraces, loggias, and balconies. This establishes a continuous and strong dialogue with the surrounding environment, balancing contrasts between introverted and extroverted spaces. The smaller, playful deep-set openings provide a sense of shelter, while the larger openings, connected to outdoor spaces, frame spectacular panoramic views.

Local Vis stone, used as the primary construction material for the house, provides a foundation of security and stability. It works in synergy with polished concrete slabs and surfaces of terraces, balconies, the bridge, pathways, and the roof. The chosen materials connect to the memory of traditional construction, symbiotically combining the archaic (stone) with the contemporary (concrete). The house, as a fragment, respects the formal and structural links to the historic town centre.

On the southern side of the plot passes the main Vis bypass road. The steep slope of the site and the building setback line led to the design of a concrete bridge as the only access to the house. The south facade, oriented towards the road, is therefore reduced to only two openings: the main entrance, highlighted by the bridge, and a secondary entrance emphasised by a long external staircase carved into the terrain.
