In the quiet rural environment of Krušvar, a contemporary countryside residence has been designed that reinterprets the traditional farmstead typology through a refined architectural composition and carefully conceived spaces for living and creative work.
The main volume of the house is defined by a gabled roof with tiles, while its spatial and visual accent is emphasized by a large central luminaire on the lateral facades, each featuring a large square opening as a “central light tower” illuminating the staircase. The luminaire, as the heart of the house, vertically connects all levels of the home and introduces natural light deep into the interior, creating an impressive sense of openness and elegance.
The ground floor is organized as a warm, flowing sequence of living room, kitchen, and dining areas, designed for family life and social gatherings. The upper floor contains three comfortable bedrooms and a bathroom, while the extended staircase landings form gallery spaces, a discreetly integrated workspace, a guest room, and storage. The staircase thus transcends its functional role and becomes the architectural backbone of the house, a space of encounters, light, and visual connectivity.
Additionally, the “pavilions of work and creation” extend alongside the main house in three carefully designed auxiliary structures: a painting studio, a music studio, and a woodworking workshop. Between them are intimate outdoor spaces, a shaded terrace, an enclosed atrium, and discreetly integrated shaded parking. A semi-covered terrace with a timber structure extends the living room to the outdoors, while a metal-grate bridge connects the house’s upper floor to the roof terrace of the first studio, introducing an additional level of spatial dynamics. The atrium between the studios ensures tranquility and privacy, while the overall arrangement of volumes creates a harmonious rhythm of solids and voids — an architecture that breathes.
The material palette is defined by timeless materials such as wood, roof tiles, mineral plaster, and metal details. The composition is calm and tactile, emphasizing the authenticity of the place and creating a subtle aesthetic expression as a result of the residential complex that integrates living, work, and inspiration into a single architectural entity.
Thus, the countryside house in Krušvar is not just a home, but a space of identity, creativity, and quiet luxury, in harmony with its rural and natural surroundings.
