On a steep and spatially challenging site with an open panorama of the Vis archipelago, a subtle and solid concrete monolith has been designed. The house is positioned along the edge of the terrain, freeing the central part of the plot for a detached pool volume and outdoor spaces intended for enjoyment and privacy.
The concept is based on two clearly defined concrete volumes housing service areas and vertical circulation. Between them opens a representative and fluid living zone — comprising the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms — fully oriented towards the sea view and horizon. Access to the house is provided via a bridge from the north side, creating a sense of privacy while emphasizing the architectural “anchoring” on the steep terrain. Every step through the space is carefully considered, from the entrance to the complete opening towards light and views.
Loggias constructed in a perforated metal structure create a refined play of light and shadow, offering a contemporary interpretation of a Mediterranean pergola. The contrast between the massive concrete volumes and the light, transparent elements gives the project dynamism and a sophisticated balance. The pool with its sun deck is designed as a separate, clearly defined architectural volume, connected via a cascading staircase. This further emphasizes the composition on the site and ensures complete privacy in the relaxation areas.
Cascading terraces with gardens and a covered summer kitchen beneath the bridge create a continuous outdoor living experience, extending the interior into a Mediterranean environment. The material palette is restrained and authentic, featuring raw concrete, subtly textured walls, stone, metal, and polished floors. The chosen palette is deliberately understated so that the architecture remains timeless and elegant in dialogue with its natural surroundings, resulting in a residence of strong identity that combines monolithic solidity, a balance between privacy and openness, and spatial lightness.
